In this chapter we learned about the first steps in the research process. Identifying the broad problem areas and defining the problems statement. Preliminary data gathering through interviews and a literature review was also discussed since this key to defining problem statement. In second part of the chapter functions and formats of a research proposal are discussed. In particular how manages can identify the broad problems area through observation, how preliminary data can be called through structured and unstructured interviews and literature review and how the problem can be solved.
